Sexhibition is a unique art project to fight stigma surrounding sex work and empower sex workers.
We want to start a dialogue and build bridges.
We are a part of Seksworks Foundation and therefore are a non-profit organisation run by volunteers.
Exhibition:
For this art exhibition, we have found 6 amazing professional artists who will each make an artwork based on a specific sex worker with whom they’ve been paired with.
The 6 selected professional artists:

These artworks will be very diverse. From a painting, to video, to a sound installation and even textile.
Next to these art pieces, there will be sex workers exhibiting their own art as well.
Sex workers who are artists as well, can still apply to our open call untill March 31.
Theater, lectures and a human library:
We want to give sex workers the opportunity yo show themselves as the beautiful, kind and wise people they are. We want them to be heard and seen.
For that we need to start a dialogue, create understanding and make room for empathy.
With our other activities, that will be offered during the exhibition, we can reach those who will be otherwise out of reach. Every activity will involve stimulating conversations about sex work and stigma. The activities will be led by sex workers for an even greater impact.
Education:
We believe that art is a powerful medium to educate, inspire and transform society. Therefore, we will be offering a special event for Social Work and Art students. They will get a introduction about sex work and what kind of stigma sex workers face. The students will have the opportunity to speak to sex workers and the artists and will get a guided tour with a panel discussion about sex work afterward.

Sexhibition is Looking for Sex Workers Who Create Art
OPEN CALL:
With the Sexhibition art exhibition, we aim to offer a new perspective on sex work(ers). To achieve this, we are inviting sex workers to become part of the exhibition, alongside the six (already selected) professional artists.
Looking for who?
Sex workers!
Are you a (former) sex worker, creative, and an artist? Then we’re looking for you! After all, who can offer a better, fresher perspective on sex work than sex workers themselves?
By whom?
SeksWorks is a community group made up of enthusiastic (former) sex workers from North Brabant, Limburg, and Zeeland. We work towards improving the position of all sex workers in the Netherlands.
We do this in close collaboration with, among others, the Municipality of Tilburg, and we’ve built strong partnerships with multiple cities. We advise on better policies, provide training to institutions and social workers to raise awareness about the stigma surrounding sex work, and, of course, support sex workers themselves.
The Exhibition:
On May 31, 2025, around International Sex Workers’ Day, Sexhibition will open in LocHal, Tilburg. The exhibition will then travel to Breda, ’s-Hertogenbosch, and Eindhoven (in a random order), with the hope that even more cities will join.
Our Goal:
Our goal is to break the stigma surrounding the profession of sex workers and offer a fresh, new, and positive perspective on this profession.
We believe that art is a powerful medium to inspire and transform society. If you think it’s important to contribute to changing perspectives and creating understanding, then this open call is for you!
The Artwork:
Your artwork must be directly related to the theme of the exhibition. This can also be an existing work!
Procedure:
Send us a photo of the artwork you wish to exhibit before March 31, 2025.
Include a bio and a motivation letter. We’d love to hear why you want to be part of our project.
Our curator will review all submissions and make a selection.
If selected, your work will be exhibited alongside six unique, specially created artworks.
We welcome sex workers in all their diversity to participate in this first edition of Sexhibition. Age is not a restriction, but we do require participants to be at least 18 years old.

Sexhibition zoekt sekswerkers die kunst maken.
OPEN CALL:
Met de kunsttentoonstelling Sexhibition willen we een nieuw perspectief op sekswerk(ers) bieden. En daarvoor nodigen we sekswerkers uit om met hun kunst ook een onderdeel te zijn van de expositie, naast de 6 (al geselecteerde) professionele kunstenaars.

Ben je (ex)sekswerk, ben je creatief en maak je kunst? Dan zoeken we jou! Want wie kan een beter nieuw perspectief op sekswerk geven dan de sekswerker zelf?
Door wie?
SeksWorks is een klankbordgroep bestaande uit enthousiaste (ex-)sekswerkers uit Noord-Brabant, Limburg en Zeeland en wij zetten ons in voor een betere positie voor alle sekswerkers in Nederland. Dit doen wij in nauwe samenwerking met o.a. de gemeente Tilburg, maar inmiddels hebben wij in meerdere gemeentes een hele fijne samenwerking. We adviseren bij het maken van beter beleid, geven we trainingen om diverse instanties en sociaal werkers bewust te laten worden van het stigma op sekswerk en ondersteunen wij natuurlijk de sekswerkers zelf.
De expositie:
Op 31 mei 2025, rondom de internationale dag van de sekswerker, zal Sexhibition openen in de LocHal in Tilburg. Daarna doet de tentoonstelling ook Breda, ’s-Hertogenbosch en Eindhoven aan (in willekeurige volgorde) en daar sluiten hopelijk nog meer steden bij aan.
Ons doel:
Ons doel is om het stigma rondom het beroep van sekswerker te doorbreken en een frisse, nieuwe, positieve kijk te bieden op deze beroepsgroep.
We geloven dat kunst een krachtig medium is om de samenleving te inspireren en te transformeren. Als jij het belangrijk vindt om bij te dragen aan het veranderen van perspectieven en het creëren van begrip, dan is deze open call precies voor jou bedoeld.
Het werk:
Je werk moet direct in relatie staan met het thema van de expositie. Dit mag ook bestaand werk zijn!
Procedure:
Stuur ons een foto van het werk wat je graag wil tentoonstellen vóór 31-03-2025. Voeg hier een bio en motivatiebrief aan toe. We horen graag waarom je onderdeel wil zijn van ons project. Onze curator beoordeelt alle inzendingen en maakt hieruit een selectie. Wanneer je gelecteerd bent, komt je werk dus tussen de 6 unieke en speciaal gemaakte kunstewerken te hangen.
We verwelkomen sekswerkers in al hun diversiteit om deel te nemen aan deze eerste editie van Sexhibition. Leeftijd is geen beperking, maar we vragen wel dat je minimaal 18 jaar oud bent.
